Fudge
Ingredients
1 1/2 C. sifted cake flour
1/4 C. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 C. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 C. soft shortening
1 egg, beaten
granulated sugar
1/2 C. chopped pecans
Sift together first four ingredients. In double-boiler, combine chocolate, shortening, and pecans. Heat over hot water until chocolate is melted. Remove from heat; cool slightly. Add egg, and mix thoroughly. Add flour mixture. Shape dough on waxed paper; wrap and refrigerate several hours. At baking time, slice dough 1/8-inch thick; place on ungreased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Cool before removing from cookie sheet. Yield: 2 1/2 dozen.
